Place of Cédric Hustinx
My work is above all inspired by poetry, lightness, sensation and emotion. It seeks to open up and delve into the imagination through two main keys: white and folds. White is the ideal colour for giving free rein to form. It reveals the very nature of the material, sublimating its quintessence. Porcelain is the quintessential white clay, so it was an obvious choice for me. I very quickly realised the memory it carries: after drying and firing, it reveals the traces of the movements, gestures and materials into which I cast it. It was working with porcelain that led me to the folds. I've been fascinated by them ever since.
